Lily Pavle
My work serves as a process of healing and a way of working through emotions associated with personal experiences; the goal for each piece being to achieve a sense of catharsis and gain a better understanding of myself. The development of each project involves phases inciting both personal and creative growth, each then having an influence on the other. Conceptualization of a piece requires significant self-reflection, asking how an experience made me feel in the moment and in retrospect as well as how that can be effectively expressed visually. Creating the piece itself, whether that process involves set design, sewing, styling, or anything else, allows time to sit with the subject and consider why it necessitated this form of expression. With the completion of each piece, I hope to let go of what had burdened me in some capacity, and if it is viewed by others, I hope they find some relief in knowing they are not alone if they have experienced something similar.
