About the Residency
MNG Summer Camp is a 9-week long residency for BIPOC AuArts students and alumni. Together artists will create a supportive and safe community for artists of colour to create, explore and gain professional experience in the arts. Participants will have regular meetings through out the summer to collaborate on research, creating work and curating a final exhibition held in August.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all artwork, workshops and meetings will take place online or be displayed on the MNG website and instagram.
Theme
Participants will reflect on community, what it means to be in a community in the art world. Artists are encouraged to interpret this theme in ways that suit their art practice, and all mediums are welcomed through out the program. Together they will share their knowledge, learning and personal experiences through art making and discussion.
Perks
The participating students will have opportunity to network and share their work with their peers. Through workshops, social media events and mentor feedback, this residency will give emerging artists a chance to explore various methods of creative expression while contributing to their resume and CV. The AUArts SA will also provide each participant with an honorarium for their work created during the residency.
