jam is an interdisciplinary artist graduating from the alberta university of the arts in the spring of 2022 with a BFA in drawing, minoring in ceramics. exploring the relationship between her body and how she navigates the world as a neurodivergent person, their methodology/processed-based ways of working relies upon the ritualistic nature of repeating a process over and over again in the hopes of some kind of transformation.

healing. an iterative process -
a series of small repetitive actions,
committed to larger scale decomposition.
an intervention - the committed resistance
to inherited patterns and cycles
that no longer serve as stable, reliable
ground on the path to becoming -
every iteration, the labour building,
until suddenly, settling back into itself.
i am ready to do the same.
“work and worship stem from the same root” (1)
- the ritual begins
collecting the tender data of transformation
as i silence the energy of the world and my thoughts
and enter into the internal vastness of my own self.
the work, illuminating my internal path forward,
driven by the desire, or more -
a requirement - for reflection
and moments of release:
“everything you change, changes you” (2)
now i am changing too - transforming,
in the process of coming apart
in order to come back together.
